About the Knowledgebase
Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote and facilitate the use of the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI) to accelerate discovery through a knowledgebase that extracts, accumulates, organizes, annotates, and links growing bodies of information related to the OAI.
About the Knowledgebase and our Funding
The OAI Collaborative Osteoarthritis Research Enterprise (OAI CORE) Knowledgebase was established in 2025 with funding from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under award number R24 AR085006 to Dr. Jeffrey Driban, PI and Director of the Knowledgebase. The OAI CORE Faculty includes 7 faculty members, including Dr. Timothy McAlindon, who was a co-principal investigator for the OAI clinical site at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. The OAI CORE Faculty has over 15 years of funding from the NIAMS and FDA to use OAI resources, with more than 100 publications related to the OAI. An External Advisory Committee and a Community Advisory Committee advise the OAI CORE Faculty.
